ETA: Late June / Early July.

The new Bierzos hail from the 2020 vintage, a year of contained ripeness and delicious balance. Though the weather marked something of a return to normality after 2019, with more moderate temperatures and measured ripening, the global situation, of course, was anything but. Manpower logistics required an early and quick harvest—no bad thing, perhaps, when alcohols top out in the low-mid 13s, and most are under 13 degrees. Raúl compares 2020 to a fresher version of 2015. (Included in this offer is the spectacular 2019 iteration of Ultreia St. Jacques, the village red, which is already in stock.)

This release also sees the return of several favorites we haven’t seen in a couple years from Raúl’s holdings in the high plateau of León to the east of Bierzo. Here the principal varieties are Albarín (no relation to Albariño) in white and Prieto Picudo in red.
